The Kijana Wajibika Project, a partnership between the Action Girls Foundation and the Swiss Confederation from November 2022 to April 2023, aimed to promote youth inclusion in Health Facility Governing Committees (HFGCs) in Tanzania.
The project focused on capacity building, advocacy, and awareness-raising, engaging government ministries, local authorities, and youth-led organizations. Key initiatives included baseline assessments, capacity-building workshops, advocacy meetings, and the development of educational materials.
A notable achievement was the election of 20% of trained youth to HFGCs, with two members elected to the Chunyu dispensary committee. The project also received positive political support, with commitments from local authorities to involve trained youth in health-related activities.
